Amman Municipality represented by Amman Mayor - Omar Maani - promised to provide more Free Car Parkings for Rainbow Street visitors, as Amman Municipality has rented some parking space where 150 Cars can park there for free, beside Bishop School. They also decided not to give any more permissions for new restaurants, pubs or coffee shops. as they stated there is no vision of turning Rainbow Street into Market Street like Sweifieh Wakalat Street.
On the other Hand, Amman Municipality is working on restructuring some other areas in Jabal Amman, Down Town, and Amman Citadel; so that will channel visitors and tourists into other great places of Old Amman City.
I think these are good solutions, but there is another needed solution that is somehow hard to implement; we need to change the mentality of some Rainbow Street visitors, especially those who come to "visit" Souk Jara on Fridays! where most of people are not there to buy or even to appreciate the market and its items, but mostly "bored" people who come to "hang out" and "make troubles"!! these behaviors disturb the Cultural Rehabilitation that Amman Municipality is trying to work on in the great area of Jabal Amman. People should learn to stop misusing cars, some people go there just to show off! People should learn to share cars, as it's really common to see only one person in each car! People should learn to park away and use sidewalks! Drivers should learn to stop staring at walkers and concentrate on driving!! What do you think?! Let people be happy, if driving the car around Amman is what makes them happy, just let them be.... there's nothing we can do about it, they have the right to do that.
Mixing history with these kind of shops is making a character to that area. Everyone is enjoying that place that has a character and be in a better state of mind. Trouble makers are emerging to be better and behave from the exposure and the experience at these places. police should deal with people who are not respecting that, when they behave so.
working on more car parks is a must, and should be focused on.
On the other hand, I think we need more public parks, Amman is overflowed with cafes & restaurants, we don't need more of those.
As for car pooling, this most definitely should start being the trend, it is true that many people tend to go around Abdoun & Jabal Amman to show off their cars, but I think this is their business, although they do contribute to many side effects such as noise, pollution & unnecessary traffic.
Finally, regarding bored people hanging out, this is not something wrong the problem is, as per my personal observation, the respect for the cleanness of our streets & side walks.
Eventually, I believe a public culture would emerge phasing out trouble makers, those are a by-product of a transitional phase.
