Last day, I had my first Video Calling experience, I tried it with my mobile (Nokia 5800), and to be honest: I liked it; the voice and video were perfectly clear, no disconnections, and the best part is the price; it costs only 5 piasters, which is considered a good price (cheaper than normal calls to other networks), that's a service that Zain deserves hats off for. However, I've noticed a limitation, that if got fixed, the service will be considered perfect; the limitation is that you can't make video calls to users using other 3G networks! Let's face it, Orange has 300,000 3G users, which means that around 50% of your orange contacts would have 3G.. it would be really nice to video-call them.
Now let's move to the data plans, I have subscribed for the basic plan (300 Mb, 4JDs monthly) to do some tests before deciding on the best plan to fit my needs. I have made many speed tests so far, and the best download speed result I got was 950 Kbps, trials were made at several areas (Irbid, Abdoun, Um Summaq, and City Mall), 950 Kbps max, and 600 Kbps as an average speed. I contacted Zain via Twitter and they claimed that this is because of Device Limitation, as mine supports 3.6 Mbps max, I am not totally sure yet but I will try it out via another mobile, however, shouldn't I get at least 2-3 Mbps if the max supported by my device is 3.6Mbps??! What is the best speed you got using Zain 3G, via which devices?! |

Thanks...
yes, i am talking about the new service from Zain, it's the HSPA+ service, or in another words the 3G service.
now this service has two parts, one for the normal internet using laptops or desktops, and the other part is about using the 3G for the mobile internet which i am talking about in this article, the 300 Mb download is just for the mobile use, it's for the prepaid users, and no pre-charges required.
the dongle you are talking about is for the normal internet use, it has different prices, depends on the download limit and the maximum speed required.
Thank you.
Is this different than the Zain Broadband we've been seeing in the last couple of days?
Is it just 300 Mb for 4 JD only, no pre-charges for dongle etc...
Thanks...
